A veteran entrepreneur, Sheldon Inwentash is the founder, chairman and chief executive officer of ThreeD Capital Inc.
Sheldon has more than 30 years of successful small-capital investing experience as well an extensive track record of achieving significant ROI for his investors and profitability for the companies he selects for investment.
Sheldon founded ThreeD Capital after working for 20 years as CEO of Pinetree Capital Ltd., an investment, financial advisory and merchant banking firm which he also founded.
He provides counsel and guidance to the companies he invests in, usually by taking a formal role in company governance as a board member. One example of a company that Sheldon co-founded was Visible Genetics in 1994, the first commercial pharmacogenomics company, which was the precursor to personalized medicine, and exited in 2001 to Bayer.
As for his education, Sheldon received an undergraduate degree from the University of Toronto and is a CA, CPA.
He has been repeatedly recognized for his commitment to excellence in both entrepreneurship and philanthropy.
In 2007, he was an Ontario finalist for the Ernst & Young entrepreneur of the year award. In 2012, Sheldon received an honorary degree, doctor of laws (LL.D) from the University of Toronto for his valuable leadership as an entrepreneur, his philanthropy, and inspirational commitment to making a difference in the lives of children, youth and their families.
